Biography:


Jean Poton de Xaintrailles was a Marshal of France who played a leading role in the Hundred Years War for France. He was a minor noble from Gascony. He served in several battles being capture in the Battle of Cravant, later to be exchanged for John Talbot. He fought in the Battle of Vermeuil. He participated in relieving the Siege of Orleans alongside Joan of Arc, and served with her in several battles during the Loire Campaign. When Joan of Arc was captured he tried to save her with La Hire, by besieging Compiègne where they taught she was being held, but after capturing the city they learned she had been transferred to Rouen. He participated in the reconquest of Normandy with La Hire and the conquest of Guyenne. When he died in 1461 he left his heritage to the church.
