Biography:

Sandro Botticelli was born in Florence, Italy, in 1445. He is a famous painter from the Italian Renaissance movement. He painted in different genres and through different influences. He painted religious paintings at first, then he started painting for Lorenzo de Medici in a more humanist theme. In this period he would paint themes from classical antiquity and their deities. Later in his career he would move to back religious paintings, this show how his art was influenced by the conflict between humanism and the Catholic Church.
